Find Out Who's Gone Fishin'
Would you like to have the opportunity to join with other Presbyterian men to talk about your faith journey? Many members of our congregation have hinted that to start a Presbyterian men's group would be a good idea. If you want to come along on this new journey, meet with others on the same path as we meet for the first time Friday, January 29, starting at 7:30 p.m. in the library at church. Maybe we can call ourselves Gone Fishin' for an obvious New Testament reference.  If you don't like to fish, we won't literally be fishing, but we can use the time to explore ways to share our faith journeys.   Rai Cary

Second Share and Grow Neighborhood Walk
Our first neighborhood walk in November was a huge success. Our volunteers felt the experience was positive and that our door hangers and message were well received. We’re planning another Neighborhood Walk for Saturday, March 27, at 9:30 a.m., the weekend before we celebrate Easter. Our goal is to again have 20-30 walkers; more would be wonderful. We’ll meet in Fellowship Hall for a brief 30-minute orientation, then go out into the neighborhoods around CPC and place door hangers inviting our neighbors to visit us and become part of our faith community. Our goal is to share information about CPC, not to evangelize or convert. If you want to sign up to volunteer, please see an Outreach coordinator during fellowship hour or contact Cindy Bolognese at 410-247-4434 or cbolognese@k9trailblazers.org. Help spread the word about CPC.

Trustees Need Computer Support
We are looking for someone with knowledge of computers and electronics to assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of our computers, internet, and PA systems. Can you help to maintain staff computers, webmail accounts, the CPC website, and intranet? Do you have IT experience? Then you may be the ideal volunteer! The trustees would welcome your assistance. If interested, please contact Bob Adams at 410- 461-4699 or rjadams@jhmi.edu or Tracy Lantz at 410-455-9982.

Strawberries, Shortcakes, & Smoothies, Oh my!
The Strawberry Festival Committee is looking for strawberry enthusiasts to help them plan the June 5, 2010, festival. Many hands make light work! There are plenty of small projects and tasks that are undertaken to organize the festival. The committee could use volunteers to assist with food purchase & management, event day coordination, publicity, and vendor registration. The good news is that you decide how involved you want to be. Many jobs are short-term while others are ongoing. Please join us at our next meeting on February 28 (France Room) following worship to learn more. Future meeting dates: February 28, March 28, April 25, May 16, & May 30.

Vision Task Force: Save the Date!
On Friday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m., the Vision Task Force is sponsoring a POTLUCK DINNER. The task force will share and discuss our new vision statement! Child care will be provided. Bread and beverages will be provided by the Vision Task Force.
 * Last names A-M bring a main dish.
 * Last names N-Z bring a side dish or dessert.

Welcome Loaves for Guests
The Outreach Committee is welcoming visitors in a new way. On December 6, we started giving mini-loaves of bread to our guests as welcome gifts. This has gone very well and several of our visitors have said that it is a nice gesture. If you see someone with one of the Welcome Loaves, please greet them and welcome them to the life of the church. A simple, “Hello, I don’t believe we’ve met. My name is…” will work to break the ice. The committee has worked very hard at baking the bread and being present to share the bread. The Outreach Committee believes that visitors are best welcomed by the whole congregation and not just the committee. Therefore, we would like to involve the membership in baking the welcome loaves. It would be a wonderful way for our congregation to share welcoming our guests. No experience in baking is necessary, recipes and pans are available; please contact Cindy Bolognese: 410-247-4434, cbolognese@k9trailblazers.org. The committee will be calling the membership to ask for volunteers. Please respond promptly to our calls and messages so that our planning process can be timely and successful. We hope you will enjoy baking with us! Cindy Bolognese, Outreach Committee Chair

CPC on Facebook
Facebook is one of the most popular social-networking services on the Internet. Many CPC members and friends have a profile page on Facebook (many more join almost daily). If you are already a member of Facebook, then you might wish to join the new Catonsville Presbyterian Church Facebook group (recently approved by Session at its April meeting). Just type “Catonsville Presbyterian” in the Facebook search engine and then request to join.

The Facebook group is in addition to (and not a substitute for) other forms of communication (such as the Messenger, the bulletin announcements, email announcements). This online community will help members/friends to connect and interact and provide mutual care and support. It will also become a forum to share our faith, as well as questions and thoughts around various subjects related to faith. For more information, see http://www.facebook.com/#/group.php?gid=48583772192

PW is Collecting Baby Items
Have you seen the cute doll crib in fellowship hall (on loan from Susan Hutton)? Please help us fill the crib by selecting from the following list:

  • Diapers (any size,) formula (any type,) baby wipes, lotion, shampoo, ointments, etc.
  • Gently used or new books for toddlers and preschoolers.
  • Gently used baby clothes, crib sheets, blankets, etc.

Gift cards in any amount to stores where baby items can be purchased. (Please don’t leave these in the crib! They may be given to Sharon Oaks.)
PW is sponsoring this project for the Healthy Families Organization, which assists local first-time moms living in crisis situations.
