Kenneth E. Kovacs
Pastor/Head of Staff

Ken
has been pastor since October 1999. Prior to coming to
CPC, he was associate pastor/ acting head of staff at
the First “Hilltop” Presbyterian Church, Mendham, NJ;
and assistant minister at the St. Leonard’s Parish
Church, St. Andrews, Scotland (UK). Ken is a graduate
of Rutgers College (B. A.), Princeton Theological
Seminary (M.Div.), and the University of St. Andrews
(Ph.D.), St. Andrews, Scotland (UK). He also studied at
Yale Divinity School, Yale University. Ken serves on
the board of trustees of the Johnson C. Smith
Theological Seminary, Atlanta, GA; and is on the board
of the Covenant Network of Presbyterians. He just
completed a five-year term on the General Assembly’s
Committee on Theological Education. Ken enjoys reading
history, writing, traveling, listening to classical
music, playing fetch with his cat, Angus, and all things
Scottish (yes, including haggis). |

Dorothy L. Boulton
Associate Pastor

Dorothy joined our staff in
October 2002. She came to us after having served as
pastor of the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Mt.
Pleasant, South Carolina. Dorothy has served as
associate pastor, First Presbyterian Church, Lees
Summit, MO; associate pastor of the Disciples of Christ
Park Hill Christian Church, Kansas City, MO; and
director of church and community youth programs at the
Fourth Presbyterian Church, Chicago, IL. Dorothy is a
graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (B.A.), and
the McCormick Theological Seminary (M.Div.), Chicago,
IL. Dorothy and her husband, Richard, live in Howard
County and have two teenagers, Matt & Charlie. She
enjoys traveling, reading, and attending the theatre. |

Greg Knauf
Director of Music

Greg has been on our staff
since November 2000. Prior to coming to CPC, he has held
a variety of positions: artistic director of the Civic
Chorale of Greater Miami; music theory instructor at the
University of Miami; accompanist for the Miami
Children’s Chorus; staff accompanist and vocal
instructor at the Towson University, Baltimore; music
director/conductor at Toby’s Dinner Theaters of Columbia
& Baltimore. He is currently the choral director at
Reservoir High School, Fulton, MD. Greg is also a
freelance composer, arranger, and accompanist. His
composition, Gloria, was included in the program of the
2007 St. Olaf Christmas Festival. Greg is a graduate of
the University of Miami (BM, MM., DMA), Miami,
FL, and also studied for one year at the Vienna Hochschule für Musik, Austria. He enjoys music
composition, hiking, movies (watching, the making of,
etc., film scoring), theater (all aspects-sets,
lighting, acting, music), and spending time in nature. |

Douglas Heist
Organist/Children’s Music Director

Doug joined our staff in
May 2008. He serves as our organist and with his wife,
Jen, coordinates our children’s music ministry. Prior to
coming to CPC, Doug was choir director and organist of
the First Presbyterian Church of Howard County,
Maryland. He is also currently piano instructor at the
Peabody Preparatory School and lecturer in music
literature at Peabody’s Road Scholar program, as well as
piano instructor at the McDonogh School. Doug is a
graduate of Wheaton College (B. M.), Wheaton, IL, and
the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University (M. M.
and D. M. A.), Baltimore, MD. Doug & Jen are avid
hikers. They recently climbed two Colorado 14ers. They
enjoy working at the health club, cooking, participating
in a variety of musical activities. |
Shirley Winters

Shirley has been a member of our staff since June 1992.
Prior to coming to CPC, she was staff secretary to the
staff of the Education Department at the University of
Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). Shirley is a
graduate of Eastern High School in Baltimore. She
enjoys walking, especially in a park, and prefers the
mountains to the beach. Shirley is an avid animal
lover, with dogs having an edge over cats – thanks to
Oscar, who raised the bar for any cat that might
follow. Shirley enjoys reading novels,
suspense/mysteries, and books about animals, plus
Birds and Blooms, Reminisce, Guideposts, and
Nutrition Action magazines. |

Robert K. Ashton
Sexton |
Bob
joined the staff part-time from 1995 to 2000 and become
our full-time sexton in 2001. Prior to working for CPC,
he was sexton at the Christian Temple (Disciples of
Christ) Church, Catonsville, MD, has experience in home
improvements, roofing and siding with Westinghouse, and
worked for the old A & P food store chain. Bob
graduated from Arundel High School and served in the
army during the Vietnam Era (1968-1970). Bob is a Civil
War buff and guitarist. He enjoys crossword puzzles,
reading, and caring for his Australian shepherd, Maddie.
Bob has five children (Hope, Rob, James, Carrie, and
Laura) and is married to Cecilia Barrett Ashton. |
Virginia Daiger
Bookkeeper

Ginger became our bookkeeper in January 2003. She
joined the staff very familiar with CPC. Since 1995,
she has been, and continues to be, bookkeeper for the
Catonsville Presbyterian Church Family Child Care
Center. Ginger is a graduate of the University of
Maryland, Baltimore County (B.A.). She enjoys reading,
stitching, gardening, and caring for her two crazy cats
– Mitts and Cody – who make her laugh every day. |
